About the speaker: Dr. Candice Goldstein earned her PhD and Master of Arts degrees in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology Los Angeles (American Psychological Association approved) and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from New York University.  Dr. Goldstein earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Long Island University. She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor level II though the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors and is also certified through the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium.

Dr. Goldstein has served as Program Director for the Charles Drew University Substance Abuse Counseling and Community Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Studies programs since 2006; In July 2011, she accepted the position of Chair of the Department of General Studies. Dr. Goldstein is a co-investigator on a research study in which she developed and implemented a cognitive behavioral smoking cessation research protocol to assess insulin resistance in smokers undergoing smoking cessation. Dr. Goldstein has held numerous professional roles within the substance abuse and mental health field, providing clinical services to a diverse, multicultural population.
